The BurnOut Generation is categorized as people who are suffering from overworking when there is little or no immediate reward to the task and so they loose motivation and Burn Out. Peer Support
An ideal person to look for Peer support from is someone who you can relate to. Someone who is going through what you are going through and you can support each other through relating. In some cases one of the people in the situation might have already experienced the situation and is trying to support the other person through it. This Type of support is important for creating a realistic baseline to go off of.
In a Education scenario this will be someone on your course (or has completed your course) that you call a reliable friend, you should be able to bounce ideas off of each other and talk about work that you have to do or ideas related to the course. It should be someone that you are comfortable studying with (either in person or texting each other to check in and keep on track).
In the work place it will be a colleague you work with (on the same level) and look forward to seeing. You should be comfortable enough to text them outside of work if you need to, but it is not necessary. When you are having a particularly rough day at work it will be someone who will understand and sympathizes . You should be able to talk to them without rumors being spread around the work place.
As a professional it will be someone within the same profession around the same level. That will be able to offer hints and tips. If you are nervous going to workshops by yourself they might be interested in going with you as it will be helpful to them as well. it is also an excellent way to network.
Someone who will delicately hold you accountable. There is a reliance on the other person intertwined with a level of guilt, this will prepare and encourage you both to do your best to make the other person proud. A reliable friend will be able to find a balance, they shouldn’t push you too hard and understand days that you need a little more time. but at the same time it should be someone who will call you out, and encourage you to do your best and not leave yourself with no time to finish activities .
