When you think of creating art in a sketchbook most people assume you’ll be using some sort of drawing equipment or paint. However is that really the best you can do?
It is the common belief that even when you are creating work without thought that on some level you are subconsciously influenced by your surroundings/beliefs/ideas. Therefore you should be able to use/manipulate anything to create work.
So when trying to explore the making process and testing some basic perceived “limitations” of what art can be. Take a look at some more non-traditional items you have to hand and how it can be transformed. It can be as simple as using tape to create geometric lines, cutting and ripping scraps of paper all the way to stapling patterns into pages.
You might be pleasantly surprised what you come up with, and it’s definitely a fun project to fill up a sketchbook.
